It’s spring. Recently, I have published an insider guide on things to do in Milan. But recently one of the viewers asked about some interesting activities in or around Milan. And I thought I should write about the new kid in the town – the Tulip Garden in Milan.

The tulip is the spring’s colourful and magnificent flower. And it is very famous in Amsterdam where 80% of the flowers are produced. Unfortunately, not everyone can plan and visit the world’s capital of Tulip in Amsterdam. So, why not write about Milan’s own Amsterdam full of Tulip flowers?

We do have one such Tulip garden in Arese, around Milan for some time. Unfortunately, it does not have easy access for visitors planning with public transport. You need to drive from Milan. But, this new kid in the town is very close to Milan. You can take the regular public transport to get here.

Where is the Tulip Garden in Milan

Tulip camp is in Vimodrone, right next to Milan.

It is not far from the Metro (green line) Vimodrone or Cascina Gobba. Luckily, both Cascina Gobba and Vimodrone are within the urban limits. A pleasant walk under the sun will take you there in minutes.

If you are driving, do not worry about the parking, since there is huge free parking available in the shopping complex next to it.

The garden is decorated to look closer to Amsterdam. Look at those windmill models and the wooden shoes at the entrance, you will agree with me.

Interesting facts on Tulip

Although Amsterdam seems to be the capital of Tulip today, do you know that Tulip is not from Europe?

Yes, they came from East – Turkey.

Did you also notice the strange strips on some tulips?

Actually, these strips are caused by viruses in the Tulip. Of course, they are not harming them but controlling the colours and patterns by modifying the pigments in them.

Today the Tulip may be costing less than 2 euros. But do you know that it costs more than a big house?

Yes, it was in the year 1637 when there was crazy pricing of Tulip bulbs due to the auction and betting on different Tulip bulbs. As with any bubble, this also burst and many went bankrupt.

As you see, with the model of the windmill, they have tried their best to give a feeling of being in Amsterdam.

And I should say, it does help in the ambience.
